Abstract: In the Japanese Lectures for the first time Lévi-Strauss faces modern problems. Extravagances, habits, customs and moral values of distant people represent a confrontation without which our societies may not understand their own limits. It is wrong to classify society into a progressive scale; every society lives in history and changes itself, but there are different ways in which they react. Every culture has logical elements consistent tied together. Abandon any form of racism it means to treasure of cultural diversity.
